👇 Can I install Stikwood on the floor or on a countertop?Updated 9 months ago
Stikwood is engineered specifically for walls & ceilings. Creative people continue to surprise us with new applications like Kitchen island walls, doors, cabinet faces, RV and trailer walls etc... However, we do not recommend Stikwood for floors or countertops.
There are a few reasons for this:
- Our products are not sealed with the type of finish you'll find on a floor. Our eco-friendly finishes are designed to bring out the grain and authenticity of the wood so it will be beautiful when you are standing 1 foot from the wall. Floor finishes look great from a few feet away, but up close it is clear that the wood is coated in basically a plastic, so it can be moped and withstand the intense beating from foot traffic day after day—like high-heel foot traffic.
- In order to be light weight and easy to work with, our product does not come glued to a plywood backer—your wall or ceiling provides the rigid strength, not a backer. Flooring products must be adhered to a strong piece of plywood so that the wood on the face doesn't crack and come apart after repeated beatings by shoes and chairs, and things being dropped from 3 feet or higher! Walls and ceilings don't have foot traffic, so it's a smart design decision to create a product specifically for walls and a different one specifically for floors. Ours are created for walls & ceilings.
The benefits of using Stikwood for your walls and ceilings are: a smaller carbon footprint (less fuel to ship because it is lightweight and generally smaller in volume, less energy to make), more beautiful, more eco-friendly finish, less waste overall, and it's easier to lift and cut.
