🪚 How do I cut Stikwood?Updated 9 months ago

Stikwood is designed thin, making it easy to handle, install, and even cut. Click here, to see a quick video that shows  all the different ways to cut Stikwood that make install a breeze.

Utility Knife
Stikwood is real wood and can be cut with a saw like any wood product. Because Stikwood is thin, it can also be cut with a strong, sharp utility knife as well. This will be easier or harder depending on the product you choose. For example, Reclaimed Weathered Wood cuts easy with a utility knife, but our Oak products make this more difficult.

Electric Mitre Saw, or Skill Saw
When we install stikwood we typically use an electric mitre saw because it is so easy, fast and it ensures nice square cuts. You can also use a skill saw and a square, but you will need to be careful to make nice square cuts.

Hand Mitre Saw
Hand mitre saws work just as well and since the planks come in random 1-4 foot lengths, they are already staggered so only one cut per row is needed, normally at the end. Hand mitre saws ensure a nice square cut as well.

'Ripping' a Plank Length-wise
A rip is a cut along the length of the board that reduces the height—from 5 inches tall down to 4 inches for instance. This type of cut is typically needed on the the last row (top or bottom depending on how you started) because the space will be too short to fit a full height piece of Stikwood.. We typically use a utility knife and a metal straight edge. You could also use a table saw for this.
